Hedgehogs in Bearsted
Presentation from Ian Gray of the Kent Wildlife Rescue Service
We discussed a list of things that we can do to help:
- Undisturbed log piles (or boxes) for cover;
- Trees, shrubs and wild area for food;
- Ponds with a beach for water;
- Gaps in-fences for travel;
- Record hedgehog sightings on Hedgehog Street https://www.hedgehogstreet.
org/
The event was very well attended and the generous donations will enable a good contribution to be made to the charity from Bearsted CAN. If you would like to find out more about Kent Wildlife Rescue Service, the website is here: https://kwrs.uk/
Want to get involved?
- We are making some hedgehog monitoring tunnels that everybody can borrow to monitor activity in their own gardens, let us know if you would like to be involved.
- If anyone is interested in caring for hedgehogs for several weeks before they are released into the wild, please let Ian know
