Bearsted Station Adoption

We have so many projects under development at Bearsted station, which is very exciting.

Everything we do is aimed at increasing use of the station, highlighting it as an important sustainable travel solution and lobbying for better services and connections.

The light at the top of the ramp is now fixed – the way out of the station down towards Ware Street will now be lit as the nights draw in.

We are looking at secure bike parking – the existing bike lockers have fallen out of use & we are looking at plans to make them available again so people can leave their bikes securely.

Our first 3 display boards will be arriving soon. This will allow us to display art work created by the local schools-the first subject will be  ‘Bearsted through the eyes of the children’.

We are looking at murals in the ticket office and other public rooms to brighten the space. This will provide a canvas for local artists and help present Bearsted’s personality at the station.

What Bearsted has to offer,  we did a lot of work across the village earlier in the year to find a suitable strapline for ‘What Bearsted has to offer!’ We came up with 3 favourites. These will be displayed at the station and additional way marking for visitors to our village.

Train Travel Experience,  for year 6 pupils at Roseacre in preparation for their move to senior school in Year 7. This will be a Community Rail, guided experience from Bearsted to Maidstone senior schools.

The Bearsted Station Adoption Team is open to all to get involved in station projects, just email bearstedcan@gmail.com if you would like to know more or get involved.
