Silver Wilder Kent Award
Bearsted CAN were proud to receive a silver award at this year’s Wilder Kent Awards for their hard work in helping to create a Wilder Kent.
The Wilder Kent Awards were set up by Kent Wildlife Trust in 2020 as a way of recognising and rewarding the positive actions that groups across Kent are taking in order to protect wildlife and safeguard nature for future generations.
Now in its 3rd year, 2023 saw the Wilder Kent Awards gain over 65 entries from groups and organisations across the county and Bearsted CAN are proud to be part of a growing army in the fight against the nature and climate crisis.
Sally Edwards the Bearsted CAN member who put the submission together said: “We found that being recognised for all the activities we have undertaken in Bearsted CAN over the last year ranging from the lobbying of politicians through to the hosting of our repair cafes, our local recycling scheme and re-use projects to the development of nature friendly features in our gardens gave us renewed confidence that we are working along the right lines. We hope to engage with Kent Wildlife Trust on further things that we can develop next year so we can continue to improve our range of activities .”

The award itself was broken down into three categories. Bearsted CAN needed to show their contribution in each one – Protect Wildlife, Sustainability and Carbon Reduction and Engage with Nature.
